Now entering her 19th year at Toyota, Earne’e Gilling, Group Manager of Vehicle Monozukuri and Data Management, recalls her thoughts after being hired, “When I joined Toyota, I knew I’d walked into a situation where I could grow and learn — where I could become a competent engineer.” And that, she did.
After a year working in Japan through the Intra Company Transferee (ICT) program, Earne’e says, “There was a change in me. I returned with a greater sense of leadership having been exposed to a strong culture of mentorship I hadn’t experienced before. The whole world opened.”
She believes doors open for highly motivated individuals who choose to own their development and push themselves hard to obtain a high level of know-how.
“Invest in yourself in all aspects. Think about the skills and character of someone two levels up. Get the skills, and the position will find you.”
