In October 2016, Toyota Financial Services (TFS) launched SuccessShare, a developmental initiative designed specifically to prepare the next generation of competent, capable and qualified women to be better positioned to move within the ranks of leadership. SuccessShare reflects TFS’ firm belief that making sure everyone has equal and ample opportunities to progress and to lead is the right thing to do for the business and its people.
Through SuccessShare, senior leaders share the experience, knowledge, and connections that contributed to their own success with the next generation of leaders. It is a pay-it-forward-based concept and another way to ensure that TFS continues to do its part to make sure the organization reflects and benefits from the rich diversity that makes it “ever better” at every level of the organization.
The initiative builds sponsorship capabilities for a small group of high-performing women managers from field and headquarters offices who are selected based on a number of key factors, including their performance and recommendations from senior leadership. Each participating team member is paired with a sponsor from the vice president and Management Committee ranks, who takes a vested, hands-on interest in championing their progress and creating pathways to advance and grow their careers over a 12-month period.
SuccessShare is one of several TFS leadership development nomination programs, including the Accelerated Leadership Development Program, a nine-month program to grow strategic perspective and business knowledge through collaboration on a business impact project; Creativity and Innovation, a weeklong immersion to take creativity and innovation in the organization to the next level and identify opportunities for transformational change; and Women in Leadership, a weeklong program and One Toyota effort to advance women leaders and improve business results.
